Panchajanyam International Film Festival

22–28 January 2027, Kairali-Sree Theatres, Chittur, Palakkad

Since 2008, the Panchajanyam International Film Festival has brought a week of world cinema, Indian independent films and open discussions to Chittur, a small town in Palakkad, each January. It is organised by the Panchajanyam Film Society, takes a theme that matters each year, pays filmmakers to screen their work, and is open to everyone.

The library

Panchajanyam began in 1982 as a small village library, and the library is still at its heart: more than 10,000 books in Malayalam, Tamil and English, a reading room with the day’s newspapers, and a corner for young readers. Search the catalogue (opens in a new tab) or read about the library.
